Waterways World River Cruising
Are you looking for a cruise on a “hotel ship” sailing on the inland waterways of Europe?
Since 1984,we have been arranging river and canal cruises on behalf of Waterways World, the number one inland waterway magazine. These cruises are open to anyone with a love of rivers and canals and you will be travelling with like-minded enthusiasts who enjoy navigating the rivers of Europe and occasionally those of other continents. Sometimes 'technical visits' are arranged and destinations often include places to which other cruises do not go.
For details of upcoming cruises, see the summaries below or download the current brochure using the link on the left.
NORTH GERMANY & THE NETHERLANDS from £1790 By air: 4th to 14th June By rail: 3rd to 14th June (or 16th June with optional extension)
The cruise begins in Bremen and then visits Bremerhaven with ample time to visit the award winning maritime museum or the many other attractions. We then head across northern Germany through Oldenburg to Papenburg for a visit to the huge Meyer Shipyard and the town of Leer. Through the new Ems Barrier, we enter the Netherlands and visit the delightful city of Groningen, some key features of the £400m Frisian Lakes Project, before stopping at the yachting centre of Sneek. Visits will be made to see the Eel Barge Project in Heeg and the village of Giethoorn. An afternoon in Amsterdam is followed by an exciting 'midnight' passage out of the city that is only open at night because of the many lift bridges. As we head towards Gouda, there will be an opportunity to visit the unique circular Cruquius Pumping Station. The cruise ends in Rotterdam where there will be an option to spend 2 extra nights at The Hilton Hotel Rotterdam.
Two cabins are still available, one in grade B1 & one in grade A as at 02/04/09.
BELGIUM & NORTHERN FRANCE from £1325 13th to 22nd September by coach
Join us for this leisurely cruise through the fields of Flanders and the rolling countryside of northern France. We will pass through 20 locks on some of northern Europe's busiest canals to arrive - in style, by water - in famous historic cities. We visit Bruges, Ghent, Tournai, Valenciennes, Douai, Lille (Marquette), Arques and Dunkirk. From Marquette, we plan to attend the opening ceremony of the restored Canal de Roubaix. From Arques, there will be optional visits to the shiplift of Les Fontinettes, Arc International glass factory, St. Omer or the small canals of the Audomarois.
As at 02 April 2009, this cruise is now fully booked. However, cancellations for health reasons sometimes occur and upon receipt of your contact details, we would get in touch with you in the event of a cabin becoming available.
If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
